Referrals, choice, and booking

Your doctor may refer you for further investigation and/or treatment.  We use the national e-Referral system and the referral will be sent electronically.  This replaced the old “Choose and Book” referral system but is basically the same.  Our secretaries will process the referral and send you the paperwork in the post which will enable you to arrange your own appointment at a location, date and time convenient for you.   If you experience difficulty with this, please contact the secretaries’ team who will be happy to assist you.  You can contact them on 01993 701782 between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm Monday to Friday.

In the case of a fast track referral, the secretaries will process your referral immediately and will give you the details of your appointment at the reception desk before you leave the surgery.

The e-Referral system enables you to choose your hospital or clinic and book your appointment directly with the service provider. If the local clinic has a long waiting period for an appointment, you may be asked if you are prepared to travel to be seen quicker elsewhere.
